Sold my '99 CLK430...sad day!

I finally sold my CLK430 and what a great car it has been. I really hate to see it go, but it is going to another enthusiast who currently drives an M3 and loves the CLK. The used car market is so soft right now, as everyone is aware, and it fetched $15,500 with 106,000 miles. That just seems so low, but I guess it is reality. I listed it through Autotrader, never had one call after months of listing and had much interest through 2 listing on eBay. Ebay seemed to be alot of people looking to low ball only, but that is ultimately what sold it. I just replaced an oxygen sensor and an oil change so the new owner is getting a great car overall! Just thought I might share my experience for those thinking of selling. Mine just got a new paint job in May and new tires in April.

Hi Brian, long time. How have you been? Glad to hear you sold the 430, It's been a long time coming. How is the 55 doing?
Take care.
Ron

Yes Ron it has been a while...office has kept me busy, in a good way! The 55 is a blast. I actually had my first opportunity to take a trip in it up to Minnesota...lots of windy, curvy, hilly back rooads and my goodness what a drive! The car still surprises me with its ability. The build quality difference between the 430 and the 55 is night and day. You can hit 120mph and not feel a thing. I came upon this two lane back rooad that had recently been blacktopped, smooth!, that was full of short twisties, gradual radius curves and intermediate straights that was so fun, I had to turn around and run it again! The first run I only had an opportunity to feel out what was coming, but the second time I actually hit most of the curves in the appropriate gear. I wish my talent for writing and expressing the fun could equal the experience, but man what an awe-inspiring car! I'm still grinning. Needless to say I will be driving the 55 whenever I visit my sister! More power than I will ever use!

And yes it took a while to sell the 430, but I think it is going to a good place. The guy seems very particular in his maintenance and care of his autos.

Hope all is well with you and get out and drive that 55! I know I will be more and more!

Take care!
