New CLK
I have a few questions that perhaps some of you might be able to answer:
1) Since I haven't been under the car yet to see for myself, is the crankcase drain plug easily accessable? I plan on changing the oil at my selected intervals, only taking advantage of the free service when the scheduled time arrives.
2) Is there a place to find out the production numbers or import numbers of these cars?
3) Has anyone had a problem with the plastic bucket thing that holds the spare tire in place? I already broke the tabs off the part that fits in under the metal bracket when attempting to tighten it because the spare would bounce in the trunk when going over bumps.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
I learned a lot about CLKs on this forum during the last couple of months; and I am sure that you will as well.
Here are my responses to your questions:
1. Age old question re more frequent oil changes. MB maintains, that the maintenance menu in the instrument cluster will alert you - it is free during warranty period. First change is due between 8,000 to 15,000 miles.
I intend to change my oil w/Mobil 1, 10W-30 @ 4,000 miles at my neighborhood garage. Owner has a MB. Then I'll follow the MB schedule.
(Drain Plug is underneath and filter is on top of engine.)
2. Maff, MBworld Forum Ambassador is just returning from his trip to Germany.
He'll advise production numbers or import numbers on this forum shortly. That is, if he was able to obtain this data.

3. Never a problem with the plastic bucket thing that holds the spare tire in place.
The important thing is ENJOY the CLK.
Take it very easy the first 1,000 miles and then take it easy up to 3,000 miles and then drive it as if you stole it!
