That sucks....don't know how much the letters are, but the star should be $12. I just recently painted my numbers and star Black Opal. (to match my car) It came out pretty tight. Something to think about, especially since you have the numbers off the car already.

Well, it looks like they are listed for $6.50 (looks like I bent over for the stealership on that one) and $28.50 for the star and numbers, respectively. So, if you go to the stealership, they'll probably charge you $12 and $50. (amazing) I'm not sure if Jeff is still in business, as I haven't needed to order anything "expensive" at the stealership in an while, but try him at 760-476-5353. He sells MB parts at or under list, to the public. If it doesn't pan out, let me know and I'll think of something else. If it does, please let me know as well.

If Jeff doesn't work out, you can order from:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...99&catalogid=2

The star is listed $6.50, but the emblem is $42.50. I've used them before, and they didn't even charge me for shipping. (They are a dealership in CA) They usually sell their parts AT list, don't know why the emblem is overpriced (atleast the star is the right price). This is probably your best bet after Jeff. If it were ME though, I probably couldn't drive around with the numbers and star missing for too long. I say, bite the bullet and go to the dealer. (worst case scenario, you'll pay $30 bucks more than you had to )

on the SL i got my star painted back, with a hint of red in the clear coat. it looks like sex. i did this to match my tint, smoked tallights, and black (hint o/red) grill. deff. a good unique thing to do.

Did you find the lettrs? How are the originals attached? wuith holes and nuts OR adhesive? Were they configured: "CLK" the "430" separated or "CLK430" all on one piece?

yea, i didn't mean they were joined together like the 80s style lettering, just that there wasn't an extra space between K and 4

That was $60 for 6 letters. Correct?
And come on a slip to keep them spaced. Correct?
The slip allows you to remove a tape on the back; apply the letters; then remove the front "mask"?

when i bought em, there was no front "mask." it was just a piece of wax-ish paper with the letters stuck on em. you peel the letters off and align them yourself. with me, the paint was quite a bit darker where the letters used to be so i had no trouble fitting stuff back together. i have no idea how you're supposed to do it other than that hahaha. does anyone know how they do it at the dealership on new cars? i'm guessing they have some sort of tool?
