New guy here, purchasing on 00' CLK430

its got a lot of miles....close to 90K. What should I look for...dealer replaced two of the motor mounts (which seem to go bad on a lot of these from what I have read here). What other problems do forsee with this models...I'm looking for a reliable but fun car, thus my decision for the 430...I do enough maintainence on my Ferrari, I don't need anymore!

Are these a solid Benz to own?

Will they go a ridiculous amount of miles like certain MB's of the past?

Thanks

1. Service the tranny
2. You'll probably have to replace the Mass Air Meter at some point
3. Make sure the harmonic balancer pulley has been replaced per the recall.

As long as the motor mounts have been replaced, I'm not sure what other issues you might have. The only other issue I ever has with my car was a bad blower motor voltage regulator which was pretty easy to replace.

I just supercharged my Benz at 108k miles. As long as you're pretty religious about the maintenance, these cars will run for a long time.

Dont forget about the crankshaft position sensor (less than $1000) and the tranny on the 99 models.

What does a major service consist of? Everytime I hear that phrase I cringe because a major service on the 348 requires the motor to come out of the car, thus the reason for my paranoia.
