question about rotors...

i have a question regarding the stock rotors on a w208 clk55 vs brembo crossdrilled rotors.
which are better? are they pretty much the same as performance?
also how come they only list the rears for the w208 on evosport,
and will these rotors work with stock calipers and pads ? thanks so much for the help, i've searched and i wanna leave the stock calipers for now and want to get that crossdrilled look, but i don't want to suffer any performance loss, thx!!!!!!

You will theoretically gain performance with crossdrilled rotors because of heat dissipation and less brake fade. I am putting a set of drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads on today so after I break them in I'll let heveryone know if I feel any difference. Drilled rotors are known to crack and some warp easily but only time will tell for me. They will work fine with your stock calipers as long as you buy the rotors of the same size.

I've had Brembo drilled rotors on mine for about 6 months...no major difference in performance. I had mine nickel plated to keep 'em shiny and it works great. Beware that cross drilled are noisier than plain rotors (kind of like your bike when you were a kid with the poker card in the spoke). Slotted are even worse for noise but they look cool.

The holes are not really for heat dissapation but to keep the pads from floating on the gas that is generated under the pads during extreme braking. They actually run hotter than a solid rotor of the same size because they have less metal to dissapate the heat. They can crack if the holes are not radiused and then the whole rotor re-heat treated. Minor cracks are to be expected.

BTW, the increased noise is so slight only dogs can tell the difference!

ok, i agree with him since he has a bunch of nice cars and a hot girl in his avatar! I actually notice more brake dust than before the ceramic pads, is this just during the break in? I was expecting ALOT less dust. Maybe the slots are the cause

Be careful with your cross drilled rotors though, big brake kits you buy from brembo, endless, porsche, etc. have cross drilled rotors that are cast with the holes in them, the Brembos on ebay that work with stock calipers are Brembo blanks that are drilled by the buyer and arent as strong so cracking and warping can be a problem.

Yea but the difference in price lets you buy several sets of the cheaper ones.

I have got the Zimmerman Cross Drilled rotors with Porterfield Brake Pads . The only advantge i got is, less brake dust. other than that ,It is more noisy than stock setup.
when my pads and rotors are about to die ,i think i will go back to OEM setup again!.

Get drilled/slotted. More brake dust than just drilled but improves braking, trust me!

Absolutely! If you can't get both get slotted.

cool,
does brembo make drilled/slotted for the w208 and is it pricey? will they work with stock calipers/pads or do i need to replace pads as well, thanks for the info, i want the look and also performance, i don't want to suffer any performance loss

slotted also ruins your brake pads faster.. so if you like changing out brake pads 50% more often than get slotted..

50% is a little bit of an exaggeration but if you want to increase your braking performance, you have to give up a little pad life.
