Smart Key
my original key i got from the dealer is out of battery. can i buy the smart key on ebay and have the dealer reprogram it??? or can i just use the housing of the new one and use everything else on the old key. how much does it cost for new key from the dealer?? i read some of the forum and it said the smart key has issue, it might not start the car...... do you need to change the whole ignition to use the smart key???

what exactly are you talking about? are you talking about the wallet key (very thin key) or the regular infrared key?
you actually don't need to have a battery in the key for it to work in the ignition... you just need battery to use the lock/unlock/trunk/panic function...
if the battery is dead, go replace the battery... its only about $2-3 from radio shack or Fry's

open the key up as if you were replacing the battery.... once you have that part out, you will see a very small black retaining clip holding the main board in place.. you can try and use a peperclip or a thin knife to push it a little and pull the main board out....
OR, you can just force it out and break that little black clip... it won't do no harm to have it broken. once that is done, pull the main board out and swap the cases and there you have it... a new outer shell for only about $20 from ebay...
