poor experience w/HRE
and I don't understand why wheels will void warranty.
What's your point exactly?

19" wheels w/suspension mods void suspension warranty!
Call 1-800-FOR-MERC to get it verified by MB Corporate.

These mods MAY void the specify part of the warranty related to the suspension (including wheel bearings, shocks, control arms, etc.). However, that is not a 100% definite thing. There is a lot of leeway that the dealer and MB-NA have in this.
I appreciate that you are trying to educate people as to the potential downside of aftermarket work on a car, but there is no reason to be over-reactionary.
There are two sides to every story. I could provide you with 10 stories of people who have NOT had their warranty voided with regards to aftermarket mods for every one that has that you could mention.
Is there a potential warranty issue with any modification - of course!
Is there likely to be a problem with warranty coverage due to modification - depends on the extent of the mods. In my REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE as a customer, a JD and a industry insider, the answer is really no.
Of course, any member of MBWorld who has been around for more then a day knows where you stand on this issue and that you feel strongly about it. However, bringing this up when it is not even an issue in the original post seems un-sympathetic to oresama99's situation and seems like you are simply looking for platform to once again state your position on this issue.
We appreciate your insight and your belief on this matter, however, it might be best verbalized in threads that relate to warranty issues, no?
Thanks

Last year I was considering of buying a low mileage CLK55 that was lowered by 1", sold by a reputable BMW dealer. The salesman told me that there would be no warranty problem.
To make sure and to verify this, I called the service mgr. for MB Miami. He told me, that MB service does not perform these mods, and that it would void the suspension/alignment warranty.
This kind of warranty loss was not acceptable to me, and I walked away from a potential $65,000 sale.
...hope that we don't get into Moss-Mag here again...just trying to share my experience w/mods.
