Snow Capable? Wheel and Tire suggestions
Hi All,
Just recently purchased a 2002 CLK430. Do any of you use snow tires over the winter? What kind of wheel combinations do you all suggest?

Getting worried
Hi folks,
OK, we got a first taste of winter with about 3 inches, I found the Pilot Sports not so optimal in about 1 inch of slush with lots of traction control warnings. Any wheel suggestions in the affordable ranges...tire suggestions anyone? Should I go to 16 inchers? Help.

i have 17's on right now, using the same rims but bought my buddys tires off him that he used in the winter on his mustang and its working fine, bigger than i wanted but still good, 245/40/17 goodyear winter rated. My amg wheels arent in the best shape so thats why i'm leaving them on through the winter and will just pick up 19's come spring time.

winter tires
hey sellersVA..im from VA too
..i have continental sport contact 2's on mine and with the snow that we had yesterday, it was no biggie for me..just had my car on winter mode and i just drove really slowly :p ..i usually let the ESP do its thing on flat roads but when i go up a hill i turn it off and its basically up to you to try to control the car
..lol..anyway, the only problem about the tires that we have on our cars (as far as i noticed) is i had a really hard time trying to stop a 3300lbs car
..lol..it takes forever to stop and the little coating of ice around the parking lots makes it even worse..my service advisor @ ASC told me that they could put continentals(winter rated ones) that they usually put on 4matic models on my car and he said that it does make a huge difference
..i forgot the name of the tire but i'll find out when i take my car in for an oil chance in 800mi..i'll let you know by then..drive safely..

Out Of Control!!
I'm form MD and just slapped on a set of the new E55 wheels with dunlop M3 winter tires and it was MUCH better than the stock wheels in the snow and it also looks MUCH better. I'm actually going to put the wheel/tire combo on ebay sometime soon.

i have blizack ws50's on 16 inch wheels. The car is unstoppable in snow. trust me your summer tires suck in snow, the car is totally different with snows on it, i am yet to have gotten stuck and i am using them for the 3rd season now.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I have Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S on 17" AMG rims. I live in NC and TN and they've done well so far in light snow. If its snowing hard i'd recommend taking another car if you have one (FWD or AWD), or put a few sandbags in your trunk (dealer actually recommends this), getting more weight over the drive wheels will really make a difference.
