polishing polish rims

was wondering whether is any alternative ways to clean the polish rims to new condition other that using metal polish....would it be detrimental to the rims if i would to use a orbital polishing machine to do the job?

i saw chip foose using some kind of buffer attachment on his wheels on TV one time, if you're wondering about solvents or cleaning fluids i would ask the detailing forum or check out autopia, one of the best detailing sites out there: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/

this mother's aluminium polish is it easy to use....meaning do i have to wipe like hell to get those stains off....currently using autosol (which is quite difficult to use) and brasso (easy to apply on and off but not as effective as autosol)
