'01 CLK430 AMG front bumper removal
Hey all -
I just found this site and boy am I excited. My wife has an '01 CLK430 with the AMG kit and she found out just how low the car sits. You guessed it, she ran up on a curb and broke the lower portion of the front bumper cover. Instead of trying to repair it I visited my local dealership and purchased a new AMG bumper cover and had it painted. I am now ready to install it but am having trouble figuring out how to remove the original bumper. Does anyone know how to remove the headlight washer units? Do they need to come off first before trying to remove the bumper cover it's self? Any help will be very much appreciated.

The headlight washer covers pop off (its hard to explain but twist it up or down when pulling). You have to unscrew the washer jets from the bumper when you take off the cover. There are bolts that hold the bumper to the fender in the wheel well on both sides, take them out. You have to pop out the amber lights in the bumper and then pull out the molding in the center of the bumer which will reveal two more bolts that go to the fender. There are 2 nuts that hold the back of the bumper to the reinforcement on the car that need to be taken off. There are small bolts between the headlights too. And of course theres the undercarriage that needs to be unbolted from the bumper. Its hard to explain how everything is done. Maybe someone else could give a better explanation. If you are located in the DC area I can show you how to do it.
