All gasoline is the same
All gasoline is the same (per EPA standards, each brand then adds an additive package))....due to a trend of only meeting minimum standards which has caused problems, BMW, Toyota, Honda, GM etc...have set standards.
Gasoline retailers must meet the high TOP TIER standards with all grades of gasoline to be approved by the automakers as providing TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline.
In addition, all gasoline outlets carrying the brand of the approved retailer must meet the TOP TIER standards.
Additional gasoline retailers are added to the TOP TIER list as they meet the standards. The retailers known to be on the TOP TIER list are shown below.
TOP TIER Gasoline Retailers:
QuikTrip
Chevron
Conoco
Phillips
76
Shell
Entec Stations
MFA Oil Company
Kwik Trip/Kwik Star
The Somerset Refinery, Inc.
Chevron-Canada (B.C. only)

Interestingly enough, my uncle is a chemist that works for the government for weights/balances/purity of gas stations. He was telling me that you'll be surprised how many gas stations that they audit and sample are not properly mixed or not giving you what they advertise...i.e you pay for 92 octane but are actually getting 89 or 87.
The reason being is that the profit they make by selling you lower octane gas superceeds the fines they receive for doing so.
He lives in Conneticut and these are for those in that area.

I go into the gas station where it doesnt look like anyone's going to mug me or do something to my car. Preferably one with a bathroom that doesnt smell like urine.

Did anyone ever get a Fwd email saying to buy gas from companies which only import non-saudi oil... how accurate is that claim... I wanna believe that there are companies like that which only import oil from lets say - africa, venezulea and other oil rich nations of the sort... I stick to HESS and BP and if i am in an emergency - I use exxon.
Hess and BP being the two companies that I believe dont use saudi oil

I do notice that the car does perform better when I switch brands, ushc as after filling up with Chevron 7-8 times in a row and then switching to Shell, the car feels more animated and quicker off the line, but perhaps it's just me!
