As you know im buying a CLK 430...

Well one just came up used, private owner for 14k but it has 130k miles.... here's the add

http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...en&cardist=135

question I have is should If I go with a clk like this one, what services and how much money would I be looking on spending? What things should I look for? Would it be better to go w/ a used with around 30-70k miles but cost much more? If I could make it work - i'd much rather buy this one and pay it cash than make payments on one from the dealer (used like 25k). How long do 430's ussualy last? Thanks guys!! I live in San Diego CA

The guys I'd be able to buy one from are these guys:

But i'd be making payments.. thanks guys!

I personally would not get a Mercedes Benz unless it was PreCertified with an existing or extended warranty. Simply because the smallest things like electricial switches to catalytic converter going bad will cost you alot of money at the dealership. If it's under warranty at least you will get complimentary Service A or B until the warranty is up. Plus a preceritfied car will have most of the glitches fixed by the dealer.

If you can find a 2001 or higher CLK with low miles, opt for that. In my area, I have seen prices from 29,000 and up for certified used. Generally speaking, the car is quite reliable, engine is well made, and ride is great. Only problems i have encountered with

-faulty headlights
-foglights going out
-cat converter going out
-senors needed replacement
-brake pad/rotorsneed replacement at around 25-30,000 miles. cost is around 450.00
-tires need replacement fairly quick at 18-20,000 miles.
-out of warranty (Service A) will run you around 150.00
-out of warranty (Service B) will run you around 300.00

==

The plus points.. the car is very sharp looking. W208 body style is one of my favorites..Plus with a few modifications, you can make your CLK stand out much more..

good luck w/ your search.

E550 Coupe
personally i'd try as hard as i could to get something newer. if you get 2000 or newer, there are also a few minor body upgrades etc
