Windows fixed...???

The auto up was not working correctly when I took my car in Monday for its A Service. When I got it back, there were no parts listed, for the windows. They just reprogrammed it somehow. I asked if they thought that was going to work and they said "Yes, that is how they have been instructed to fix it."

Anyone have a different fix? Do you think it will last?

My car is a 2001 CLK55.

I know that on BMWs there is some sort of sensor that prevents the window from closing automatically when there is some type of obstruction, like when it meets resistance (like an arm hanging out the window). Could this be related?

BTW do all CLKs have auto window up? if so, mine doesn't work then.

They just reprogram it (unless there is a motor problem). If you have that problem again, try this:

Press and hold the window button down 1 click until it is lowered completely.
Press it down one more click to the second position, and hold it for 10 seconds.
Do the same steps (but reversed) for raising the window.

If your sunroof doesn't automatically open, do this:
With it closed, press and hold it in the open up (slanted) position for 5-10 seconds.

I don't know why MB has these things programmed like this. I would think it would make more sense to make them permanent, but in their wisdom, they have decided not to.

Exact same thing happened to me. Took car in and it was re-programmed. Too soon to see if it will stay fixed.

Same thing happened on my E Class and the dealer blamed it on the drag of the aftermarket tint.
