unless there's some way to use common household tools, i think you may have to get special flat keys to take the original radio out

You can get the keys on Ebay for ten bucks. I ordered a pair then got impatient waiting for them and made my own, lol. Two flat strips of sheet metal approx. 2" x 1/2". Grind down one side so it resembles a steak knife. With the pointed end faced outward, insert in the slits on either side of the radio on the bottom. The keys will pull in the spring loaded catch and you can pull out the deck.

Keys should resemble these (you don't need the finger loop pulls):

Insert keys here:

thanks, but the only thing is that its not the factory radio inside...so I guess im going to need something flat to pull it out? This is my first attempt of doing the radio myself so if anyone can offer any insight to me it will be well appreciated. Im pretty sure is someone can tell me how to remove the center console it would make everything so much easier..

try searching this section for keywords like "hardwire" or "install" i think i remember some guides for hardwiring radar/laser detectors that had pictures of how they routed the wires in the console.

PM Bnzcoupe. I think he pulled his whole interior apart. As far as pulling off the surround, open your center console. You'll see a small black piece at the front. Pull it off and there are two screws underneath. Undo those and I think this should get you started on taking the dash surround off. I believe it just pulls off once those screws are out. Again, PM Bnzcoupe and he may be able to help you out. He's mostly on the other forum.

ok i figured it out finally. You have to pull the console (where shifter is) up from the front by opening up the ashtray. Then you pull it up the top piece of the shifter pops out and you disconnect the wires. After that there are two screws where the ashtray is you unscrew them and pull the ashtray out and disconnect the wire attached to it. After that you can pull out what ever componets need be. Thanks
