Aftermarket DVD Cd player install how to?
Ok guys I'm struggling. I have the 1987+ VW harness. All the connectors fit in perfect but I get no power at all to my unit. I've installed about 6 or 7 cd players in my day but can't get this one working. Is there a step I'm missing? I've searched and searched the forum and google but could not find a guide. Please someone help

If you have a multimeter check the 12v positve to make sure its constant power and check the switched 12v by turning on the ignition. i think they are backwards for the mercedes since its a vw harness. i would try that first. other wise search until you find the 12v constant and then the 12v switched.

i believe the power and ground wire needs to be switched... its been a while, but, i know its not a straight connect... 2 wires need to be switched... give it a try, no guarentee, take no responsibility... gl

Thanks clk22 but its still not working but I'm getting closer I suppose. I did a search for 12v acc and found that I have to use the 12v cigarette lighter wire. I switched the constant and tapped into one of the pink and green wires going to the cigarette lighter and now I get the red light on my dvd player when I turn the ignition but when I hit the power button on my dvd player it doesn't come on!?!?
So I hooked the dvd player back up to my old car to see if it still worked and it did. Why would I get power light but no turn on? Could it be a bad ground? Its connected to the thick brown chassis wire. Wrong cigarette wire, not enough power?
