'99 vs '00 430 which should I buy?

What's the major differences between these two years? I'm in the market for a used 430, and actually wanted an '00 but today I found a '99 w/less than 15k miles. Can drive it away for $40 thou.

Are there big issues between the two in relation to problems? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks in advance!

Yep, there's at least a couple of cosmetic differences, including the mirrors, which on the 00 and newer have a signal light built in.

Also, I believe the 00' and newer have a different radio and an aux port in the glove box. Important? Only if you want to add an external MP3 player or something as mercedes does not, to date, offer that capability.

You can think of it like thais.. the CLK really has two revisions on the w208 body style.. 98-99, & 00-02. This adds a bit in resale value later on.

FWIW, I have a 99' which I love dearly. If I had to do it over again, looking down the road at resale/trade in issues, I'd probably go with the 00'.

I feel reasonably sure that the core engine is the same, but that the electronics are at least a little different between the two revisions.

My .02 cents, marked down from .05 for today only!

Regards,

Don't buy the 99" model, buy the 00" model because it look more updated and look alot better.

I bought a '99 430 new, owned it 6 months and replaced it with an identical '00 model. There are MANY differences. I'll list a few, but will miss some:

instrument cluster (new design w/gray dial)
touch shift
blue tint windows
black birdseye maple vs burl walnut (not necessarily a good thing!)
digital startac phone vs. piece of junk analog
steering wheel audio controls
4 years/50K maintenance included
side markers in mirrors
black graphite window trim vs chrome
light in console

W213 '17 E43 ///AMG - W211, W208 no more
soemthing that doesn't come standard, but the '00+ models offer the availability of the COMAND System.

By the way, the Aux port is only available if the vehicle is equipped with COMAND.

And a little further down the line, '02 models have the newer thinner 5-spoke AMG rims. Which is another way you can differentiate the '02 430 vs a '02 320 Sport.

I remembered a couple of more items on the '00 model vs. '99
1) Trip computer (MPG, avg speed, and more)
2) Tele-aid
