just read on the tech froum that after replacing the maf you need to have a dealership reset the adapt. codes in order to clear the check engine light and complete the job.
mbtech208 was the one who said it.

Sounds like you've had the same problem I have. The same as your question about the CPS. I can find out but it wouldn't be until Tuesday. Blkbenzz is going to help me change my MAF (5-10 minutes?!) but he didn't mention resetting the computer. My guess is the answer is 'No' (to both ?'s) and that the manuals have a way of trying to sway you into bringing the car into the M-B 'stealership' for servicing. We'll find out because I'm curious about it as well.
