Brake Sensor question

For the past week my Brake sensor has been going off. I have 21000 miles, so I'm not surprised that I need new brakes. However, my brake fluid light had been going off on occassional corners (low fluid at an angle misses the sensor), so I had it refilled today. But not my brake sensor warning no longer goes off.

I'm going to assume that if the difference was affected by the amount of brake fluid, that it must not be much, and my sensor will go back off in about 100 miles.

Any thoughts?
I can't get my brakes done at MB because I'm putting Porterfield Pads on them, which they won't touch out of liability concerns.

I do not understand why topping the brake fluid off would make a difference. The brake pad wear sensor is triggered when the plastic on the end of it wears down and grounds itself on the rotor. The fluid has nothing to do with the pad wear sensor at all...

That reminds me about my experience...

My clk55 only has 3600 miles on it, but I started getting brake fluid warnings during hard cornering. I assume that that is not normal?

Getting the Brake Fluid warnings during cornering means you're cool. Consider yourself one of the few chosen "True" CLK drivers. Ok, enough of the BS. Just get some more put in. You can check your level under the hood, it's closest to the steering wheel. Mine was at about medium, which would account for it being low on whatever side the sensor is on during hard cornering. It's just like the gas sensor changing during hills.

Oh yeah, my Brake sensor is back on!

Mach430,
It is very easy to see if you need new pads. Pull off a wheel and look at the pads. If the pad material thickness is thinner than the backing pad (steel) then change your pads. You can also see the pad with a flashlight without taking off your wheel. BTW, if you need pads it will be the front not the back. Good luck.

Talking

I have a 99 clk320 and my brake fluid warning light was coming on in extreme cornering. The first time it came on I looked when I stopped and my brake fluid was only about 2 cm too low. It would only go off when the ESP was kicking in when taking a 90 degree turn too fast (well that is subjective). After the second time I mentioned it to the dealer and they topped off the fluid. I have not seen it come on since. I would not have thought that the 2 cm below max would cause this but I guess under the driving circumstances it made sense. I have 23,000 and have not replaced the brakes, or tires yet. The car is lowered with H&R's and I have Bilstein shocks. The dealer was able to reallign the car close enough to spec that I am not eating through tires.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think after 2 weeks of break pad warnings it's time for me to replace them. I'm going to get my Porterfields put on today (front only). Goodbye Annoying Sensor. Goodbye Brake Dust.
