2016 C450 AMG
Cracked front spoiler
Mines busted pretty badly. Large cracks next to each fog light, and all 3 posts to hold center horizontal slat are broken.
I still think this can be fixed from behind (mesh, bondo, filler, sand, paint). My question is, is it more trouble to try to repair the front bumper than to just replace the whole cover? What have people paid for fixing/ repainting their bumper covers? Where's a good place to find a new bumper cover? I want to avoid the dealership at all costs....

I didn't know the bumper could be "fixed"... I just thought it needed to be replaced....I'd be interested in the going price for a "repair" vs just buying a new bumper..

All those AMG bumpers on Ebay coming out of Texas are repaired. I fixed my ML rear bumper by heating the plastic with a heat gun and reforming it then used a light coat of Bondo and it came out great.

theres are a few ways to repair plastic/ fiberglass. theres this product named
marglass and body shops use it on steel, plastic and fiberglass. its best to go
to a profesional and use quality products or a friend that knows his stuff, this
stuff is dangerous and you are better of paying for a good job. so repairing is
most of time cheaper than buying new( $300 ) parts and labor for one bumper cover. hell my lorinser DTM cost me $1,700.00 USD!! and that did not
include the paint job and misc...

Repair
Depending on what your cover is made of will determine what you wnat to use. They make a plastic bumper repair mix that you can buy at a local autoparts store and it is a two tube mixture that you squeeze out like you would do silicone. If your bumper is fiberglass you want to use fiberglass. Almost anything can be repaired if you are willing to spend the time. We owned a body shop for 25 years and I have fixed most anything. Bondo is really not the best repair material for plastic or fiberglass as it does not adhear or flex as well as the other two methods, but it will work for small blemishes on the cover. I would not use it to hold the cracks together though. If I was doing it I would use fiberglass. Kinda messy but more secure.

thanks
I think anything is worth a try before dropping a load on a new set-up.....I'll do an "up close and personal" inspection of Bullet's damage before proceeding--to see if it's best to consider repair or not.... Don't want her looking like a "homemade" deal....gotta maintain her sexy for the upcoming summer!
