W208 Subwoofer Enclosure??
here is a list of what is going 2 be installed in my car below.I have tried 2 different boxes in my 99 CLK430 and as you W208 owners who have tried 2 install a system know it's difficult to get the sound into the cabin.I have tried slot porting/not near enough bass/sealed enclosure same problem,so what I have done so far is remove the entire rear hat and electric sunshade and built a new rear hat to house my 6.5s and port my enclosure thru the openings for the original mid bass into the new rear hat so no sound will be lost, still in the test phase so anyone who has a system currently in a W208 please HELP as I dont want to cut anything to aquire my goal of good SQ/SPL

i had a JL audio 10W7 in the stock eye-ball box ran by a fosgate bd1500. I had absolutely NO problems with the bass coming into the cabin. As a matter of fact, it was too much bass for everyday normal listening.

remove the sky port panel as mentioned above and point subwoofer/s towards the tail lens so the sound wave can expand or fold one of the
seats forward when not in use!! I would not mess with the rear package
tray or sun shade, just replace the 6.5 's with full range Hi Fi grade!!

I was thinking maybe the first aid kit in the center of the hat shelf would be a good place for say an 8 inch subwoofer from Focal. Any comments?

Ok fellow MBers. I have a 2000 CLK320 Cab and looking to change the system out. It whas the factory bose with the 8" sub. Currently I have the wire harness adapted to a afte4rmarket clarion deck but I am changing the entire system and leaving the factory intact. Looking for suggestions on replacing the sub, will it be a challenge to put a 10 possibly a 12 in place of the 8, should I use a free air? Any pictures of what others have done is appreciated.
Thanks

My own set-up ended up being a 13 inch Focal sub mounted in a closed box bolted into the spare tire well, driven by a Focal 1x800 Class D amp. On high boost the car's floor pan vibrates. To let the more audible sound through, I took out the Bose speakers on the hat shelf and the ski sack behind the rear arm rest. Boost is controllable by a knob installed behind the ash tray door on the centre console. I can rock when I want to or make it subtle but deep, as the music dictates.

i am running stock speakers, and an alpine amp for my 1 alpine type r, plus a cap in a pretty big box that takes up almost half my trunk and it pounds, at night u can hear it the least 2 blocks away, so i dont think u should have a problem with bass.
