More problems with the CLK
I just got back from my local mechanic, and after reading the codes with his snap-on diagnostic machine, it read out a bunch of codes. Which were all pretty minor jobs, but then there was a code about Transmission slip...he told me that the trans was most likely busted and I would need a new one...Does anyone know where I can get a rebulit tranny...any help would be greatly appreciated

haha i know tell me about it. My mechanical called up some places about a tranny and the closes one is in florida, and its going to cost about 3500 shipped for a fully rebulit one. I looking around google and found one for 2750 and shipping is another 219 from mercedes new parts dot com
So about 3 grand for the tranny alone and labor, I'm not sure....Does anyone on here every had there tranny rebulit?

If you could get the job done for under $4K parts and labor I think you'd be getting a pretty good deal given what I have heard from others. I have heard prices estimates up to $5K!

Out Of Control!!
If I remember correctly it cost me about 4500 to replace my tranny in the 430. It couldnt be rebuilt and I ended up getting a used one. Dont replace it unless you feel it shifting funny. It could have just been a glitch.

Wouldn't this be a good time to throw a 6 speed in there?

yes...as for now, im going to get a tranny flush and change the filter and then see what happens after that. Im going to get the work done tomorrow, I'll keep with the updates.
TK, yeah I was wonder, would it be hard to change the car from an automatic to a standard if i changed the transmission? Do you think if i find a standard tranny, would it fit and would there be any problems with it...

What year is it? If it's a 98 or 99 then it's really not worth it to keep the car. I would sell it soon while it's still working :P Even if you replace the tranny, you won't get much more for it when you go to sell it. I talked to a mechanic about swapping the bad 320 tranny for a 6 speed from the SLK320 but he said it would cost a LOT.
