2002 CLK430
Command System

First post after lurking for a while.
I'm looking at buying a 2002 CLK430 this weekend and have a few questions.

First, how do I tell if the car has the command system?
Secondly, if it does, what is the best way to integrate ipod and bluetooth?
If it doesn't how hard is it to add aftermarket tunes with the optical BS?

I've searched and still can't find this.

Thanks for any advice.
And if there is anything I should be looking for on a 2002 please let me know.

If the car has a command system it will have a 5x5 inch navigation screen built in the dash. Can't help you with the ipod but I use the ARGOS bluetooth system for my 2003 CLK cab. www.eiskits.com or www.eurocarphone.com. which I like but others have gone another route.

Well that pretty much tells me I don't have the command system.
Mine has a single din Tape player in the dash with changer in the trunk.
I do have the factory Hands free cell in the console.

Any suggestions for the Ipod and Bluetooth?
I have no problem with changing out the system, but is it feasible?
Will I have to still mess with a fiber cable?
What about the steering controles?

You can get COMAND installed in your car from Steve. He comes stateside from the Netherlands a couple of times a year and I believe he sells COMAND for $1500, but don't quote me on the price. He installed a unit in my car (99 430--no nav option was available then) and it looks like it came that way from the factory. For another $50 or so, he can install the factory auxiliary audio input in the glove box which will connect your iPod to your stereo system. You can contact him at info@MBenzNL.com. His website is MBenzNL dot com.
