Were the Comand modules standard throughout the CLK model life?

Hi all.
Quick question : Were the Comand modules standard throughout the CLK model life (pre and post facelife models) . I'm looking at getting a 2nd hand replacement Comand module for my 2002 (post facelift) CLK and there is a good deal on a Comand module from a 99 pre facelift W210 E Class which looks about the same as mine (the reason I'm changing is that mine shorted out somehow and now has no sound coming out).
Thanks!

Comand in CLK's

I think Comand was available as of MY2000 onward.

The brochures for that year make a lot of mention of Comand being available, leading me to think it was a new feature as of that year.
