Changing dead battery!!

Changing dead battery!!
My battery finally died on 2000 CLK 430. I took the old battery out and swapped it out for a new one and went to install it and my trunk key won't turn. It works fine on the driver side door and glove box. So I have no battery in the trunk and wondering how I get in. I've seen on the other posts that I can:
1. Kick out the panel behind the backseat armrest
2. Get a locksmith
3. Keep working the lock with spray lubricant
Anything else that does not require $$$ to get in the trunk?

I took the old battery out and drove my other car to Pep Boys and swapped out for a new battery. I never thought to check if my trunk key worked before doing that.............

I had the same problem and just assumed my manual key would work. I had a lot of trouble with it and even tried the plastic covered valet key. One of them eventually worked on it though. Just keep trying wiggling the key in and out slightly as you try to turn it. I suspect that lock is so rarely used if ever that it's first time is tough.
Have patience and it should work. Try your other keys if you have them.

SUCCESS!
I kept at it for about 30 minutes and with judicious amounts of WD-40, it finally turned and unlocked. I put the new battery in and it started right up.
Thanks for the advice and I can't begin to describe how helpful this forum has been to me since I've owned my CLK!!!!!!
