LED City Light Mod

I have a question for you all. I recently purchased the White 6 Led Ultrabright BAX9 Bulb with Offset Pins H6W from www.ultraleds.co.uk and have installed them with no problem. However I was hoping they would be significantly brighter. Color is great but in terms of light produced they seem to be fairly ineffective. Is this purely an asthetic mod?

Any recommendations for brighter? Same color effect?

Thanks,
Matt

I tried using these awhile back.

Basically the same thing. They were a good match for my xenons (a purplish tint) but there was almost zero output. You could hardly even tell they were on.

Yup....thats pretty much how mine look. Ahh well cool at night I guess. I suppose I'll just accept they are purely asthetic .

Yeah, I ended up returning them because they weren't bright enough for me. Now I wish I just would have left them in. Oh well. I know I can redo it at anytime, I just haven't gotten around to doing it.

The BA9s from Autolumination are much brighter but you'll be lucky to get 6 months out of them and you'll have to file down one of the pins but at about 7 bucks a piece, big deal.

old pic:

At any rate, my understanding is that the city lights are merely for identification and never really throw out much light anyway.

Led's do not radiate light like bulbs. If you want the housing lit up, you are going to have to aim the led where you want it to light. If you want the glass and housing to light up, that means turn them sideways so they fire into the housing.

Best to to it with raw led's and not a plug and play led so you can control it's angle.
