Smile First Thread / First Question......

First of all let me start by saying Hello to all and tell you how HAPPY I am to have found the forum!!

My Name is Darrin and I am in the USN stationed in Virginia Beach VA. I recently purchased my 200 CLK 430 and WOW, what a car!! I made the jump from American to Euro and I am glad that I did!

I have been looking around and the advice here seems to be both plentiful and knowledgeable and I look forward to learning a little bit from each of you.

One post that has caught my eye was by "Software" in reply to "sunroof malfunction". Software, you had stated this in regards to the ECU reset:

"Well I disconnect the battery, but after restoring the power there are several steps you have to go through in order to get things [like the funky sunroof] to work again. I have the list of things to reset in my car - I'll post later."

I would really be interested in knowing what these are. I seem to have several electrical gremlins in the car i.e. the sun roof sticking open and the passenger side window wanting to back down on it own.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Again I look forward to interacting with you all!

Darrin

Darrin,
Welcome to the forums! I'm in the USAF here in LA, so don't hold it against me. Regarding your sunroof sticking, I believe there is a procedure in your owners manual to resynchronize it just as you do with the windows. It requires that you hold the switch down with the keys in the ignition for a period of around 5-10 seconds. After that is done, it should work fine. If it seems to be sticking, it can't hurt to clean and grease the track that the sunroof slides on.

As for your windows coming down, I know that both windows are supposed to on 2000+ CLKs when you open the door, but they should only go down a few mm's and then come back up when the door is shut. Hope this helps you out. For a true ECU reset procedure, do a search query on this site for ECU reset procedure. Its fairly involved and has a series of steps, moreso than disconnecting the battery. This may help if the window problem persists.

helpful website

Fellas,
There's a website http://mercedesshop.com/ that you can go to for tech information. I highly advise getting an account there. The site is perused by Mercedes mechanics and 'deep' DIY guys.
Good luck
