I just gave identical options and mileage and sure enough across the board (Excellent, Good & Fair conditions) the '99 CLK 430 Private Party value lists higher.
Private Party
1999 - CLK430 (w/63,xxx)
Excellent - $19,890
Good - $18,850
Fair - $17,365
2000 - CLK430 (w/63,xxx)
Excellent - $18,270
Good - $17,220
Fair - $15,810
Sug. Retail
1999 - CLK430 (w/63,xxx)
Excellent - $23,525
2000 - CLK430 (w/63,xxx)
Excellent - $21,590
What gives KBB?

seems to think along more traditional lines of common sence and depreciated value than does KBB.
Wonder how many people have sold their vehicles far lower than KBB b/c of a possible error?! Just goes to show...DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!

Yes KBB is correct. There were several changes in the 2000 model like the touch shift tranny, and other changes that dropped the value. (Ironic, I know) However by 2001, the two year gap was too hard to ignore and the '01's became more valuable. The Black Book says the same. (99 over 00)

I definately think something is wrong with KBB. Why would touchshift decrease value? If anything it would add value...as far as I know there were no new options added to a 2000 CLK that would reduce value (its not like they have I-drive).... 2000 CLK has the blue tint glass, turn indicators on the side mirrors, touchshift, black walnut wood, steering wheel controls...etc. Whats so freakin bad??

CLK 430 Coupe
I don't know how true it is or if it would be relevant or not, but one of my mechanics had told me that there seemed to be more issues with the '00 models from his experience.
