Lowering the CLK

Lowering the CLK
So I was pondering this....
Since my main concern about the drop is the front (which for some reason
the front of most cars sit higher than the back), what if I just swapped out
the front sping pads to some lower ones to get rid of some of the gap? I
really like the way the back sits as it is, and would like to leave it at that
height. IS this possible? In no way am I looking for the cheapest route to do
this drop, butif a change in the front spring pads would do the trick, why
not. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Yes this is possible. I believe that they make 5 different spring pads for the front with each one differentiated by a 4mm gap with 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest. I don't recall but i think they are about 10-12 dollars per pair at the dealer. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply and confirmation 55Power. I was thinking that this was possible. I think this will allow me to keep the integrity of the stock equipment but change the stance to what I want. I didn't want to get into modding this car a whole hell of a lot since I just left the import world and things can become headaches more often than enjoyment.
And yes, Chappy, they are REAL Lorinser RS1s. Had to talk the guy I bought the car from into actually selling me the car. I looked at 14 of the CLKs before I found this one, and decided this was it. Take care, all.

do you know what the stock ones are? maybe a part number for these? and how easy are these things to install?
I would love to drop the front a little too but didn't realize the pads would be this inexpensive.

if you wanna slam it on springs, Kleeman is the way to go. I went that route and have a nice low stance in the front with an amazing ride and considerable turning responce improvement. Oh yeah.... bigger wheels make a big diff too (obviously, lol)

The pads installed at the factory depend on the car (320, 430, 55) and the options so this is difficult to predict.
The pads have dots on them (you can reach under your car and count them with your finger tips) that correspond to the pad number.

It is the Sticky thread W208 How to.
Suspension:
Remove spring pads without a compressor:

Personaly this is a job I would leave to a mechanic.
If you do that get new spings and shocks as well.
