Coilovers or any LOW options without cutting springs.

A friend of mine is looking to go low. Coilovers are the number one choice, but we're having trouble finding anyone who makes them.

If anyone has a link to a site with any information on this, please post it. Personal experiance is always best though..

The car is a 2000 CLK 430.

Thanks

The lowest you can go without cutting the springs is 2 inches using the H&R cup kit. We are making a set of race coilovers, which would allow you to go lower, however they are built on a custom basis, and are priced much more than other suspension systems. Just how low is he looking to go?

Yes, the H&R cup kit is available in the US. DO NOT heat your springs, this will absolutely destroy the ride quality and handling.

Hey Ben, most of these guys don't care about that, as I've discovered the hard way

Makes wheel fitting tough, i'll tell you that much.

OMG, don't heat the springs. You will ruin your car. The springs will just continue to loose their shape. The car will sink lower and lower until the springs finally fail. This is the worst thing you can do to your car. Lower it correctly, go to the professional ASAP.
There are a lot of options. They are not free but your not driving around a piece of crap. Do it the right way. It's always cheaper to do it right the first time, than it is to have to go and do it all over again.

For the w209, I would wait a few months and see what, if any, coilovers from the w203 are applicable. They may in fact both be released at the same time.

The cup kit is listed for the CLK320 on the H&R website under Stage 3.5. We carry all H&R products, and I can help you if you need to get one.

Yes, the only difference between the two cars is engine weight, so the car will sit a little lower than a 320 would with the same kit.

You have a 320, right? Judging for your latest pictures, it will probably raise your car!

The H&R cup kit lowers the car 2" front and 1.7" rear. Handling is greatly increased without too much sacrifice to ride quality.

I'd estimate an additional .2". It's tough to say, as each car is always slightly different.
