Need advice on how to properly upgrade the speakers on a '01 CLK430
So i was thinking about upgrading the sound system on my CLK but I noticed that there are three speakers mounted on each door, a 6.5", a 4", and a 3/4". I had a set of Focal Utopia's that are 2-Way but I'm not exactly sure if the sound would be compromised if I installed these in the door panel and left out the 4" speaker. When upgrading the factory sound system with a aftermarket one, how exactly is everyone upgrading their door speakers? Are they purchasing a 2-Way Component Speaker and removing the 4" speaker or are you leaving it in? Is anyone purchasing a 3-Way Component System? Of course I will be bypassing the factory amplifier but I was just wondering how everyone went about to upgrading the sound system on their CLK. Also, when upgrading the front speakers, since I will be running a seperate amplifier, would it be better to remove the factory amplifier, thus forcing me to upgrade all speakers at the same time? Has anyone ran the system partially with the factory amplifier and a seperate amplifier. I don't need help selecting the actual components, I was just confused on how people were actually installing their aftermarket systems. After doing a search, I couldn't seem to find any relevent info.
