Could this be the issue?

Was checking the fluids tonight and noticed this.





I'm missing a screw from the ignitor box. It looks like it has a metal ring in it where the screw goes through so I am guessing it grounds to the block. I've been experiencing sluggish performance lately, perhaps that's why?

Anyone confirm the box will ground when the screw is placed through it?

I'll go ahead and confirm for you that the M112/M113 engine's coils DO ground to the valve cover on the underside. If you have an cylinder missing, this could certainly cause it. Make sure, before you just replace the screw, that you pull that coil away from the valve cover and clean any dirt or oil, etc. for the mounting areas both on the valve cover and the underside of the coil where they meet. Might not be a bad idea to check the rest of them while you're in there. I found 3 loose when I replaced the plugs in my wife's ml430 last Fall. None as bad as that one though!

Anyone with a parts manual confirm the screw dimensions and thread? It'll be a few days before MB is open.
