............If performance alone were the issue, one can purchase a 1992 Dodge viper for under 30 grand. You save a lot of money that way but you will beat almost everyone on the road. Combination of Luxury and performance are desired by some. That is why MB is creating such cars as an SL55, S55 and CL55 with 493HP supercharged engines with tele-aid, keyless go, automatic transmission, parktronics, dystronics, voice activated phone, command navigation, heated seats etc. And yes, those cars can be Kleemanized to 600Hp by performing a supercharger replacement...........This will give you the ultimate performance and luxury mixed together. Oh yes........I forgot even a 600HP but luxurious SL55K will not beat a stock Dodge Viper. right?

The NSX no doubt is a supercar, but I still have debate over the way-over-priced msrp.

btw looks like you have some mods going with your NSX.

The NSX continues to be one of my favorite cars to look at and its handling is awesome, but, until it gets a V-8 and some more hp and torque, I really don't think its a supercar... but hey, I'm not looking to get anyone worked up...

Do you consider a Kleeman CLK55 to be "modified"?

...........No I see that you are kinda confused. The post was "CLK55K vs Viper." A CLK55K by definition is a CLK55 with a Kompressor. You may bee thinking that CLK55K refers to the stock CLK55 AMG. It does not. Is his why you have been so adamant?

Honestly, I thought the "k" suffix was for "Kleeman". The real question is: Can you buy the car you refer to "as is" from a dealer? I would suspect you can buy the Kompressor but not the Kleeman off the lot.

In that case, it would be stock vs. stock. Since the conditions are the same, the only problem is now the driver. IMO, the SAME driver should make 3 runs in each car under the same conditions and you take the average of the 3 runs. Since most people don't take their MBs to the track, it's difficult to find many head to head 1/4 mile runs. I agree stock vs. stock is close enough to go either way depending on driver skill under the same conditions.

..............the more popular Kompressor is a Kleemann, so CLK55K is essentially a CLK55 with a Kleemann Kompressor. But, I think you misunderstood my post. I was specifically refering to a CLK55K and a stock Viper. Everyone knows that a stock CLk55 will not outrun a viper but when you Kleemannize the car, it becomes a beast. Having driven this car, I know how incredible it is and I was letting people know the only limitations the car has is the lack of traction. Outrunning a viper is not even a problem with proper traction.

I thought the K meant Kompressor, being Kleeman, AMG, or what ever.

true, true, unless Montoya shows up in a Ferrari F2002

IMHO, Schuey is good but Montoya is better, the only thing saving Schuey is his car!!

Montoya has gotten more pole positions than Schuey in a inferior car....

You guys bite

Don't give opinions unless you have the FACTS to back it up!!

I own a 2000 NSX-T and have done a 12.9 at 108.

My car is STOCK all the way. It is in NO WAY SLOW!
I bought the car used for less than 70k! It will eat all AMG cars sold in the USA at this date (hold the SL55).

To all those, that have never driven or owned an NSX, please stop bashing the NSX. If only you guys knew how well it drives.

The NSX has a sense of finesse and pizzazz, that many of you, I don't think, will truly understand without ever driving it. In the meantime, keep your hate and ignorance to yourselves.

I never said ANYTHING about the Turbo NSX, just NSX. yes, the stock non-turbo NSX IS relatively slow in my opinion for the money you spend on it. And yes i have been in an NSX, so while i am no expert on hondas, i am NOT ignorant in the subject. You have an amazing car, the NSX-T seems to be a fast car (i have no experience with one, thus why i didnt mention it). For the money, there are cars i would rather have, but thats my $.02. You didnt buy your car to impress me, enjoy your car!

Acura NSX:

Base prices: $80,043-84,443
3.0-liter DOHC 24-valve V-6, 252-270 hp; 5-sp man, 4-sp auto
0 - 60 mph [secs] 5.1
1/4 mile [secs at mph] 13.5

For the price, i think ill buy 2 corvettes, thank you...

Acura NSX-T

1/4 mile [secs at mph] 13.4

12.9? i believe you, and i am impressed!!! could this number i just found online be wrong? found it at several different websites....it was on a 1998, were the 2000's different? Thanks in advance.

Well I have beaten an Acura NSX on my AMG (non s/c), that only means that your car is not slow, but other NSX (non turbos) are.

NSX

Eric,

Car and driver tested a stock 2000 NSX-T with the 3.2L engine.

This was televised on "Car and Driver Television"

The car did a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and passed through the 1/4 in 12.9.

The bottom line is:

Older NSX's 1991-1996 are indeed slower than 97+ ones. This is due manly to the gearing (5 speed) and the 3.0L engine.

I good driver in a late model NSX will not have a problem walking away from the current AMG offerings.

I bought the car NOT to drag race but to enjoy it as my track and weekend car.

Finally,

Used NSX's are bargains! Anyone that states that you don't get enough performance for the money is IGNORANT. Plain and simple. Do your due diligence in the future before making claims.

For LESS money than most USED AMG cars. A 97 and up NSX has MORE performance in a straight line and in the twisties. Period.

Now if you want to own a mass produced big clown shoe of a car filled with cheep plastics than that is your choice.

I will stick with my ALL aluminum mid engine exotic car.

Well, if I wanted a track and weekend car I wouldn't consider the NSX.
NSX has excellent looks and it drives very well, but performance doesn't go with the high price you pay for that car.
For less money I can get a Viper, a Vette Z06, a Z4, etc. IMO if the NSX was 15-20k cheaper, that it would be worth every pennie.

Please remember these are opinions, i'm not trying to put the NSX down, neither your judgment for getting one.

...........your point is well taken. For me, part of the appeal of the NSX is that it is a Honda and it will last forever. It is as easy to drive as a Honda accord and yet has exotic car performance. Yes buying a brand new NSX is a bit steep, but as stated earlier one of the true bargains in all of motoring is a used NSX.
