CLK Speedo Cluster tool: How do I use this tool.
I understand the concept of this tool,
but where on the speedo cluster do I insert it?
Some Questions, and a link:
1. Does the tool squeeze in between the plastic edge of the cluster,
and the surface of the leather dash ?
2. Where along the edge does it go in (use the link below) ?
3. Do I need to remove the steering wheel ?
4. If yes on losing the wheel, then, any tips on removing the wheel ?
5. What is the part number, replacement number, and is it common,
so that I don't have to buy if from the dealer ?
Would really appreciate your kind help.
Here's a link that will help describe at what postion the tool should be inserted. Go to the link and click on CLK Clock Light Problem:

It goes in between the 7 and 8 and the other one goes between the 3 and 4. They go between the dash and the cluster with the point straight up or down and when you push it in between after an inch or so you should be able to turn the tool so that the hooks now face towards eachother. Then all you do is pull straight out until you can see the plugs in the back and just unplug.
You dont have to take off the wheel but you will have to extend it out as far as it can go. Hope this helps..Laters

A MB dealer tech (new word for "mechanic"), who is a biker friend, came by last night with the tool, pulled the dash, and replaced the wierd looking little bulb that you can only buy from MB.
He pressed the tool in deeply at the #9 and the #2 positions, and eased the dash out, but it did seem to take more force than I expected.
He educated me on the slight difference in wattage/amp draws of the different types of bulbs that plug into the cluster, and how I need to be certain to get the correct bulb for each application. MB certainly does not make a simple task, simple. Needlessly complicated, like their panzerwagons 5 & 6 in WW2. Needlessly complicated and unreliable, but totally lethal.
Please make no mistake about it.
I GREATLY appreciate your help in this.
Thanks
PS. I'm going to update my link to show some close ups of the funky MB bulbs.
