19" wheels and drop?
I was reading that if you jump up to 19's that you would need to lower the car. I really am concerned with the ride and don't want to lower and put super low profile tires on the car. Anyone have a picture or comments on this idea?

I just asked Roush2960 about this.

Post #5 is Roush's car. He has 19s without a drop.

Hey Zoom On,
I recently moved from the 17" monoblock AMG rims to a 19" rim with the lowest profile available for this size (35 front and 30 rear). I was worried at first that the 19" rim would look to big on the car and that the ride would be to harsh with my H&R springs. Neither proved to be true.
As I mentioned, the car is lowered with H&R springs (#2 bump pad up front and #1 in the rear)- which are excellent. I really don't notice them, nor my wife, in normal driving. However, when aggressive around corners the springs keep the car more level and minimize body role compared to the stock AMG springs. The stance is much more aggressive and looks far better lowered than stock. It is amazing how much of a gap exists between the fender and the wheel on the stock cars.
The 19" rims fill the wheel area great and do not look to big IMHO. The 265 width on the back looks and hooks great. With larger rim size you are getting more rubber on the road compared to a 17 or 18" rim. Also, I really don't notice any difference in ride quality with the 19" low profile tires on smoother roads. However, the performance level "feels" noticeably better. It is very common now for high performance cars (i.e. Porsche Carrera S runs 235/35/19 and 295/30/19) to be running 19" wheels with 235 in front and 265 or larger in the rear- I can see why.
Bottom line, there are really no sports cars that have a height of 54" (I am at 51" now) and a tire width of normal sedans. I would make the switch to lower the car and increase the rim and tire size to match the AMG performance level our car truely has.

I just had 19's w/ 35 front and 30 rear put on also. Tiny tires...I'm worried about the ride quality. I lowered the car w/ H&R's Saturday and I'm picking the car up in the next couple days. The only problem is that i have to add a camber kit...but that's no big deal, like 80 bucks total. I'm posting a spring DIY soon w/ some pics if you wanna lower it yourself. Takes about 5-6 hours. I'll let you know about the ride quality difference

Thanks so much, maybe I will start with the tire/wheels and see how it does. I am not to worried about body roll, as well when we are driving my wife is very good at letting me know when I AM GOING TO FAST (read: blah blah wah wah) OK so fill me in then what do springs cost and if it is 5-6 hours that is cool for a DIY project.

Does it worth it the trouble?
1. You put 19" on, and your car is too high - now you want to lower it.
2. Install custom springs, shocks, pads. Car is lowered now but your allignment and camber are srewed.
3. You put a camber and alligned wheels but factory geometry of the car is all different now. Plus increased road noise. And of course a lot of $$$ spent.

surprisingly the ride quality with the H&R & Koni Setup up with the 19'' wheels is not bad at all. Infact it feels better than my stock set-up. The only thing is that you have to watch out for potholes and other things on the road, but it is well worth it.

Well since this original post I have dropped the car with H&R and also done the Lorinser front bumper/spoiler and love it. Still have the stock AMG 2pc on but when the bank recovers I will do new shoes.
