Seat problem

Well it seems like as soon as I fix something and to fix something else on this car. I assume that this problem must be common but after searching the forum I didn't find anything on this problem.

Yesterday I went to the dealer to fix an oil leak from the oil filter that they installed, when I noticed that my passenger seat was not moving forward or backward: I'm like wtf so I go back to the tech bay and told him, he knew right away that the fuse on the trunk was blown, and told me this is a common problem in the clks and after putting in a slightly larger fuse in, he told me that the only way to fix the problem would be to replace the seat tracks which cost parts only about $800 plus labor.

The seat is working fine now but he said is not going to last. My question is, can I do something to the track i.e. clean the up with WD40 and then re-grease them, the tech said it would be pointless but it would hurt to try.

Any ideas/sugg would be much appreciated. sorry for the long post.
thanks e.

Yes, clean the tracks first and also make sure there aren't any obstructions in or around the tracks.

So the seat tracks are preventing the passenger seat from moving?! That doesn't even sound right. Did you post this question over on mercedesshop (dot) com?

That isn't the only problems the seat has. Motor on the seat will eventually get weak and you will start to pop more than 1 fuse and then you will have to replace it since it gets weak. I'm on the third fuse in 1 day. I gave up and now I need to replace the motor for the seat..I'm to lazy to deal with the car anymore it just sits in the garage and collect dust..

wow. i've replaced the fuse about 3 times in the past 6 months. Every other seat movement works perfectly fine....just the forward and backward do not work.

sucks, as i have the seat ALL the way back so I can't fit any rear passengers....
