Help on changing license plate blub

After getting "lamp defective-check lamps" fault, I found one of the license plate lamps had burned out.

How is the license plate lamp cover removed? After removing the 2 screws....it won't come free to allow access to the bulbs (there also is a rivot located between the 2 screws).

I find it easier to remove the trunklid interior liner and enter from the backside. No comments, Drew.

Being that I'm not Drew, can I comment? I recently changed my blinker bulbs both in the front and the rear. I found it much easier to enter through the backside than the front. When I opened my baby's hood to replace the bulbs in the front, I found it was far too hot and even dirty! On the other hand, the rear was lined with smooth cloth and after peeling away at its interior, the bulbs slipped right in.

Bulbs are covered under warranty. Perhaps you may want to let the dealer do it for free.

Thanks for your comments.....the dealer also suggested I replace the lamp by taking off the trunk lid liner...so that is what I did and all is well again.

The strange thing is why did the lamp cover have 2 screws and not come off (thats the way it worked on my BMW) making bulb replacement a snap. Getting the new bulb in through the back side required some effort to get it in place and seated.
