What could cause it to on and off and how much could it cost to get it fixed?
If you cant tell then I advise you to get the car computer read and have the codes pulled to see what they say. It should give you a couple codes and that should lead us to the problem or solve the problem directly.

these are the most "popular" reasons why the CEI comes on. I would have to lean more towards the O2 or MAF, as if the CPS was having issues, you would be experiencing your car shutting itself off while you were driving.
Once the O2 or MAF gets worse, your CEI will not come on intermittently anymore...it will stay on constantly.
Either repair is NOT a costly one, and many members do it themselves =)
