Check engine light came on and care started to shudder a bit. I found this thread and cleaned the MAF as described. The shudder seems to be gone, but the Check Engine Light is still on.

Used the directions in this thread to clean the MAF on my '98 E55
No CEL on the dash, but car cutting out right after cold start, then restarting and running fine
Don't think I've fixed my problem, but the job was done easily using Pancho's tips
I used Google Chrome so the pics appeared really tiny but when I clicked on them the were shown at higher resolution and I was able to see what to do!
