What to look for in used '00 CLK430 ??
I'm in the market for a used '00 CLK430 coupe or maybe conv. What are the watch outs to look for? Common problems if any ?

oh... i'd say, the price range between a private sale and dealer is in the range of about $3,000, between a private sale and starmarked, about $5,000
I would say, as long as the car has a good length of time (say, 1 year) of warranty left, and it drives well, then do it. oh, and make sure the price is right. i believe someone here is trying to sell their 2001 clk430, silver, lorinser rims... maybe the 2 of u can work something out.
but, lets see... do a good, lengthy test drive. push it a little hard, see if it responds well. check for signs of accidents, run a carfax, check for signs of flooding (carpets, trunk bed, under the spare wheel), if from a snowy region check for rust
and for about $2-300, you can have the dealer perform a detailed prepurchase inspection.

CLK430
I saved about $7000 buying a 2000 CLK430 on Ebay as opposed to Starmark. Got the car with 21000 miles. It's been great and is not Starmark certified, but oh well. Plus, I sold my BMW on eBay and got $5000 more than the Mercedes dealer offered me. Of course, I was without a car for a month and had some frieght expenses...but if you're buying a low mile car I'd definately recommend giving eBay a look...you'll need to have the cash ready and be smart about it.
