You're gonna have to replace it. It's VERY expensive! (driver's side, atleast) Passenger side is like 60 bucks, but drivers side.......(forget about it!) I left it BLACK until I found one on ebay for $50. Stealer quoted something ridiculous like $200.

Yeah. The little rubber seal that surrounds the mirror glass 'seperates' at the seam and I belive there's a fluid in there that begins to leak out. Looks wild and can cause some distortion (mine did at least). The new one that was put on was 'seamless' so it shouldn't happen again. A $300 hit....

replacement
I just had a local glass shop get a replacement that they glued right over the existing. It is not dimming but it was only $40 versus the $300+ for the replacement. Perfect fit. You can find them online as well.

mirror
I'm in Bham and the dealer wanted 450.00 for the drivers side mirror. Just like the previous post, I had a glass shop to shape and cut some glass for me and they placed it over the brown mess for me. 35.00 and I can still eat. lol

Hersh: Are the images in the mirror distorted, especially at night? Mine was whack so I HAD to do something. I'm actually suprised it passed inspection like that but maybe because the distort wasn't bad during the day. The night was really scary. I'd be seeing 4 headlights for 1 car *LOL*. Didn't want to but I went ahead and took that hit ($300 but my indy put it on for free) for safety's sake. Passenger side doesn't cost as much. I think the driver's side has some electronics in there and that's why it costs more (is the driver's side mirror heated in any way?).

ya it looks like ****...hard as hell to c nethin in the mirror at night...esp with my front windows' tint to add to that...if a car doesnt hav headlights on - i def wudnt c it at all lol.....i gota get it fixd/replaced soon....i just saw a full driver side mirror with the whole mirror covers unit go for liek $150 shipped on ebay......i think im jus gunna replace mine with a non-autodimmin mirror tho...
To all of you, I highly recommend changing it by any means neccesary if you have this issue. It's a very dangerous situation at night.
