Ext Warranty
As to their relative value, it can vary depending on how long you plan to keep the car, how hard are you on it, and the build-quality reputation of the manufacturer. Add to the mix your own willingness to gamble. If you expect to have difficulties with the vehicle then go for it. Me... I'll keep the money and pay my own freight, thank you!
A sidebar: One of my co-workers always gets an extended mfg. warranty, even though he trades in for a new car every 2 years (duh)!?!
My 2¢

PS: Also make sure you understand the limitations and restrictions as specified in the contract.
PPS: Enjoy your car!!!

If you don't use your extended warrantee, when it expires, MB will issue you a refund if you ask. So, you're only wasting the opportunity cost of the money. Not a bad deal.
HUH? Who told you this ?
