Wrong Oil Filter?

I ordered a new oil filter among other things from buymbparts.com but I think they sent me the wrong one. The reason I say this is there was a piece of paper that came with the filter showing that one of the black lines on the filter shouldnt be showing out of the two black lines that are on the filter. Also this filter is bigger than the one that was currently in there. The filter I bought was a Mann and the model they sent me was HU718/5x and the part number is 000 180 26 09. Anyone have any idea if this is the correct one? I was pushing the filter on as hard as I could and it wouldnt go on any farther so I'm thinking its the wrong one.

I think I may have put too much oil too...actually I know I did. I screwed up and though I still had another quart left and accidentally put 9 quarts of oil in my car instead of 8 1/2. Anyone know if I can just leave the extra half quart or is that bad? Should I take the half quart out?

I would take it out if its over the full mark on the dipstick. having overfilled oil in your car is just as bad if not worst then having low oil.

i would have it a little over then a little under, if its over it will just burn if its under, you could have more friction and then you know the rest...

Too much oil = BAD

The new style oil filter comes with the piece of paper showing the lines. Basically, they want to make sure you push the filter all the way down to that line ...otherwise it's not installed correctly. That is the new style filter though, to be used in M112, M113, M272 and M273 engines. Show pictures though, because i'm not sure it should be any BIGGER than the old style...... ??
