Hello all,

Does anybody have this issue with a 2000 CLK430? I usually like downshifting to engine brake every now and then. Recently started noticing downshifting from 4, it will skip 3rd and go to 2, or from 3 to 1. Upshifting is the same problem too, from 1 it'll skip 2 and go to 3, etc. If I leave it in D, i have no issues. Dont know if this is a computer issue. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks.

Have you spilled anything in the shift gate? Could be a faulty / worn switch.

 

Could be dust or corrosion. You could try some kind of contact cleaner. It will be possible to get it in any electronics parts dealer.
