320 keeps dying

Was wondering if anyone else had this problem. While stopped at a traffic light, the car just died. Started right back up and no trouble for about 175 mostly highway miles. Filled it up, drove less than a mile home. The car was parked then driven less than a mile to the office. when my wife tried to start it, it wouldn't fire. She says the starter was turning but it wouldn't fire. While waiting for me to come over and pick her up, she kept trying and it finally started. She drove home with no problem.

My thought is bad gas. Any other ideas or experiences?

Thanks,
Dave

Could have something to do with the smart key. Keep us posted.

I don't know if your problem is related to the ones that I experienced......My car constantly stalls and shuts off completely by itself when I drive over a bump. Had the MB technician check on it, and they said that my LV key pouch was too heavy. So when I drive over a street bump, the key pouch pulls the smart key a little and causes a signal interference. Now I just use the smart key w/out any key chain or keys attach to it, and the car never stalls again.

Did anyboy experience similar problem? Or did MB blame the faults on my key pouch?

My '00 430 refused to start about 10 times- very inconvenient.

They replaced the keys to no avail, and had trouble finally explaining the fix. I think they wound up replacing all the sensors, as well as whatever chip (?) processes the IR code. There was some problem in the system with the ignition failing to send the final code to start the engine. Everything would turn on, but when I turned the key to the final stop to fire the engine, nothing happened. It was totally random, and often fixed itself after 30 minutes to an hour. Unfortunately, that was usually by the time I could get it towed to my dealership and they claimed they couldn't replicate the problem to solve it. Almost filed a lemon-law claim, but it was finally resolved and I sold the car.
