OEM amp

Hi I was just checking for an amp in my clk 320 99 and it seems i have no amp. Is this possible? If it is, is my car pre wired for one?

The US model CLK320s came with a Bose system. The cassette based head unit feeds the separate Bose amplifier. I don't remember where it is located, but check the Audio sub-forum.

You can change head units quite easily -- lots of posts in the Audio sub-forum. Basically, you need a head-unit, Volkswagen adapter, antenna adapter, and if your replacement head-unit is high powered a step-down device (about $20 from Crutchfield).

The head-unit is the most cost effecitve upgrade for your car -- get one with CD and/or MP3 (or iPod) capabilities. The stock amp/speakers sound fine as long as your not looking to rattle the windows constantly. If you are into loud hip-hop, etc., then a complete system replacement is the way to go as the stock stuff isn't built for that.
