Power Steering Problem
Hey everyone,
I been reading the fourms for a while, but i never really said anything. I have a 2000 clk430.
Today I was driving and then all of sudden my power steering went out while i was driving. I drove a block or so without power steering, inorder to get to my house.
What do you guys think it could be? I talked to a couple people and they are telling me its either the pump or fluid. The fluid level looks okay, so i assuming its the pump. I have 60000 miles on my car, is there anything i could be over looking??

Nah. I dont have any warrenties. How would driving bend it? I was always under the impression that you just lose power steering and it becomes like an 'older' car.
I found a couple of pumps online for 300.. so i geuss its not that bad.

Well I say it's bent because we had a 85 Buick Station Wagon and the power steering went out, but we never got around to fixing it so had to drive on it for a couple of days, and when we took it in at a local shop to get a quick fix they found the power steering rod was bent and it was leaking and no fluid. Just saving you some time and something to consider while fixing your prob.
