Radio does not turn off when key is removed

Radio does not turn off when key is removed
Search found instance where radio would not turn on (after battery replacement) but none where the radio would not turn off when the key is removed.
Not every time, just a couple of times a month.
Solution has been to turn off the radio using the on-off control.
Just wondering if anyone else has run into this.

WHY won't the radio turn off?
I have a W123 and had the same problem last night. Never had it before! So I turned off the radio (duh). I have already replaced the tumbler and dependent parts so it's not a key-turning issue (on my 84).
What causes it?

I had the very same problem a couple of years ago (posted the problem on several forums but never received any replies).
However, after a month or two, the problem went away and has not reoccurred since.
Thinking back now, that was about the time my original battery was pretty weak after 6 years of service....maybe just a coincidence and nothing to do with the problem, but thought I'd mention it.
