Questions from a new buyer
I am thinking about purchasing a new CLK55 or a CLK430 within the next couple of days.
I have a few questions; I have tried to research, but would like some quick answers if you could answer them for me.
1) When are the new body styles due out?
2) How does this car hold up to rattles etc?
3) Long term have you been overall satisfied with this car?
4) I am not looking for all out performance, but a daily driver for the most part, which car would you choose? FYI: All out performance is in the form of a 650 HP Vette before the addition of N20, so the MB can't even get close.
5) If you had the choice would you go with the 330Ci BMW or M3 BMW over this car? And why!

The CLK will be getting a new body for the 2003 model year.
As for "rattles," the CLK doesn't fare too well. Consumer Reports, for example, rates it below average in reliability. However, their rating is based on all model years and includes cutting-edge technology problems (such as SmartKeys) peculiar to MB.
As far as your last question is concerned, I believe there was a relatively recent comparison test in Road & Track or Car and Driver of the BMW M3 and CLK 55 AMG.
