soon to be new owner with few quest
I'll be inheriting my mother in-laws '02clk 430 coupe in a few days, so I had a couple of questions.
The car has only around 37k mi, but is in fair condition. It has a couple of dings/dents, but I'm getting it for free so I can't complain. The AMG rims a little scratched, OEM tires are bold, etc.. No trouble codes/warnings. I read about the spark plugs (5yr change reccomendation), MAF and O2 issues, and so on. I think I'm ready to deal with those. But here are my questions:
First of all I was wondering if it is ok to use degreaser on the engine, and rinse it with garden hose afterwards? Other manufactureres allow this but not sure for MB. I know to stay away from electrical components/alternator, etc. I'm planning to cover the alternator, batery....The engine is not oily, just dusty. I'd like it clean

Second, are there any alternatives to MB fluids? I know to use M1 0-w40 oil, but not sure what fluids? Are there any alternative fluids to MB fluids (ATF, cooland, Differential) that are approved for use in their vehicles? in-laws can't find the owners manual...
thanks for any and all coments
btw, I live in Chicagoland, usa
thx

Seriously, noone knows if I can safely hose off the engine?
As for fluids I heard atf ATF+4 would do, is that right? What about coolant and diferential fluid?? Wat are the reccomendations?
thx again

Yes the battery is in the trunk
lol and fortunatelly the spare tire is also in the trunk
However, you can put it under the hood if you want to move your engine to the trunk
kidding
