Lowering Car

Okay I've been going through past threads about lowering cars, and i keep seeing people talking about pads, I dont get it(im not that familiar with modding cars) If I have my same 17in monoblock rims(tires are 225/40/17), purchase h&r springs(most ppl seem to have these on their clk's), buy the blistein shocks(i want smoothest ride possible, i read HD ones would be the right ones, not sure), and the settings which one would give me the smoothest ride possible, do i have to buy anything else such as camber kits or pads. srry to sound so dumb in all my threads, like i said im new to this modding thing

I would also like to know the same. Do we need camber bolts to allign within specs?? What else do we need? Or just springs and shocks? I saw tirerack talks about some kind of spacers.
thx

the spring pads are numbered from DOT 1 to DOT 5.....DOT 5 being the thickest one. They are what the springs "sit" on. The lower the number you put in , it is approximately .2" per number lower.

You will likely need a camber kit with the H&R springs.

I am currently running between -2.5 to -3 degrees, without a camber kit.

OEM camber bolts will take out about 1 degree max.

I lowered the Benz in a couple afternoons in my driveway. I used Bilstein Sport and H&R Sport springs. My only complaint is that the rear still looks like it sits high, even with smaller spring pads.. The ride is great - MUCH MUCH better than stock

eibach spings, koni shocks (adjustable- 3 settings) and K-Mac camber kits.. are my personal choice.

and when you use #1 spring pads and factory 16' wheels you get the height you see in the pictures.

and yes you need camber kit.. otherwise your tire will wear out very quick..

there is no cheap way about it. choose the right parts and do it right the first time is the only option...

Thnx guys for all the great info and pics. SO if i go with the HD shocks the ride will be smoother than the sports but will not handle as great as the sport shocks, regardless of wot rims i keep on my car i will have to get the camber kit. Pls every1 pray for #21 Sean Taylor and his family, friends, and fans
